Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota is slowly raking up support from some key figures within the party, such as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and New York Sen. Charles Schumer, who want him to be the next leader, following the party’s humbling presidential loss earlier this week.

Citing more than 250,000 signatures in support of Ellison on a petition posted to his website, Sanders said the congressman is the future of the party.

President-elect Donald Trump signaled a willingness Friday not to repeal all of the Affordable Care Act, saying in an interview that he would keep several popular provisions.

The Global Faith Institute, 88 Tactical Elite Training Organization and the Pottawattamie County Republican Party present "Understanding the Threat - The Muslim Brotherhood's Secret Strategies for the USA," Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Oakland Community Center. Dr. Mark Christian is executive director of the Global Faith Institute -- based in Omaha -- and he says the event outlines the groundwork that terroristic organizations could be laying in the midwest.

"They discuss the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration and how to define, interact and deal with the threat when you see it," said Christian.

The program features two speakers in John Guandolo and Chris Gaubatz. Christian says Guandolo is a former FBI agent and Islamic terrorism expert.
